✩ About Worcester Hospital ✩
Worcester Hospital, a 277 bed general specialist hospital, is the referral area for eight district hospitals and several primary health care facilities.
A recently completed major renovation project, and sound financial and supply chain management ensures that the hospital is fully staffed, has up to date medical equipment and sufficient funding for and availability of consumables. Waiting times for operations are much shorter than the provincial average.
As part of the Hope Project, the University of Stellenbosch established the Ukwanda Rural Clinical School in Worcester and we now train final year medical and allied health students.
We also welcome South African and international medical students for electives.
Electives for overseas students are best arranged through your own medical faculty in liaison with the medical faculties of the Western Cape. Electives for South African students can be arranged by contacting us.
The hospital is accredited for several diplomas of the College of Medicine of South Africa, as well as for University of Stellenbosch affiliated first year registrar (specialist) training in several specialties.
Due to the excellent specialist supervised training opportunities offerred by this hospital, our doctors are preferred candidates for registrar posts.
